The past week has been an opportunity to specifically recover with some light running whilst away on vacation. However, although I know that my fitness will not have been dramatically affected, I have still struggled with the idea that this is ok. The question keeps coming back, in not being on a bike or swimming for the past week, have I lost valuable gains that I have made over the past few months. Logically I know that this thinking is irrational but I cant help the nagging at the back of my mind that until I have completed a long and demanding bike ride successfully in this weeks training it wont feel like I am training for an ironman.
